Etro bags, wallets and shoppers combine Italian design with oriental flair
The Italian label Etro has been a trendsetter since the late 1960s. Since then, Etro bags, fashion and accessories have made their mark across the globe – from Italy to Paris to Tokyo: colourful and charming Etro bags can be found everywhere. Classic shopper and handbag silhouettes with soft corners create a relaxed and elegant look for Etro women’s bags. Etro’s men’s bags are more sporty in design and feature more muted colours, preserving a masculine aesthetic. What makes Etro unique is its beautifully printed jacquard fabric. The stylised motif, reminiscent of flowers, leaves or fruits, is known as Paisley. Originally from India, the Paisley pattern used in Etro bags was discovered by the label’s founder Gimmo Etro. While the pattern wasn’t unknown in Europe, Etro bags, travel bags and wallets brought it back into fashion. If you’re picturing loud, overwhelming prints, think again – Etro bags and shoppers use the Paisley motif with subtlety. The floral prints often gently contrast with the background colour, though summer collections sometimes include bold all-over floral designs. The main material used in Etro handbags and shoulder bags is typically jacquard, while the handles and trims are made from high-quality leather. With decades of experience in colourful prints, Etro has mastered the art – making Etro bags truly stunning statement pieces.
The family-run label Etro offers bags and fashion with a unique charm
The label was founded in 1968 by Gerolamo Etro. An economist with a passion for travel, he drew inspiration from the Orient to create his own brand. The vibrant patterns and floral elements found on Etro bags, wallets and accessories brought Paisley back into fashion in the 1980s. Etro bags have retained this colourful, lively spirit – it remains the brand’s signature. Etro is still family-owned and run by the brothers Ippolito, Jacopo and Kean Etro. Their sister Veronica has also worked as a designer for the brand since 1998. Today, Etro offers travel bags, fragrances and jewellery, and has grown into a full lifestyle brand.
